Bude Social History Project: ‘Ration Years and Lockdown’ – A Community Book Launch
Bude Social History Project: ‘Ration Years and Lockdown’ - A Community Book Launch
3:30pm - 4:30pm | Free | Ivor Potter Hall, The Parkhouse Centre
Clair Roberts of The Kitchen Front and Dawn Robinson-Walsh Bude & Beyond, plus a local team, will launch this special two-year community book project which is a not-for-profit, multi-generational, community social history project. It has not gone unnoticed that the behaviour of people during the global pandemic and lockdown mirrored that of a nation in crisis during WWII and the continued rationing after the war. Bude is unique in its experience during both times. Stories will be collated from The WWII ration years and the 2020-2022 pandemic, plus tales of traditions, values, skills, memories, photographs, interviews and recipes from two pivotal times, to create a full colour hard back community book. This is your chance to hear examples of such stories and to be inspired to get involved in this exciting community project.
