Daily Workshops - Monday 13th May 2024

The first day of the School Programme kicks off with both an inspirational author and Expressive Arts Entertainer. Claire Vowell is the author of the popular environmental books, ‘Nurdle’ and Nurdle and the Microplastics and will be delivering three sessions through the day. Also with us and at the helm of Entertainingly Different, is freelance practitioner/performer Rob Pudner, who has over twenty-five years experience of educating and entertaining people of all ages and abilities in a variety of settings. There are a limited amount of spaces available for each workshop/session, but there is plenty on offer!

You will notice that each artist has all the information on their workshop, including the content, the audience age range and number of students and the timings of each session. This should help you to make an informed decision as to whether this session is suitable to you. Ideally the children will be made aware of the author’s work and books before the person arrives at your school. All the sessions will be the author visiting your school and will ideally have some help from one of our Volunteers. We do ask that if you require additional safeguarding paperwork for visitors, that you contact our Event Programmer to request any additional information that will help to speed up the signing in process.

HOW TO BOOK  Places are booked on a first come, first serve basis. Once you are happy with your choice, you can then quote the author/artist name and number of session/s you are interested in then pop an email to our Event Programmer; Richard Wolfenden-Brown to book a space on info@northcoastarts.co.uk.

Bude/Stratton Schools have priority booking from 19th January until 19th February. These then open up to other schools via an invitation email, which is due to be delivered to schools on 20th February 2024.

All the workshops are interactive and relevant across the curriculum. They offer exciting opportunities for active participation across the whole school age range from Reception to 6th Form. They are free, thanks to support by Bude Stratton Town Council plus local businesses and individual sponsorship.

Claire Vowell: ‘Nurdle’ Reading and Q&A

Claire Vowell: ‘Nurdle’ Reading and Q&A

Monday 13th May 2024

Reception – Yr 6 (Class, Year Group or whole school)

The author of inspirational children’s environmental books ‘Nurdle’ and ‘Nurdle and the Micro Plastics’ Claire Vowell, will share her powerful message with help from a special guestâ€Ķ. Children are very aware of plastic pollution, such as bags, bottles and straws, and know that many of these break down into smaller pieces in the ocean, but many of them have never heard of nurdles and primary microplastics. The book celebrates the effort made by everyone, whether tiny or tall, and ‘Super Nurdle’ asks all children to make a difference by reducing, reusing and recycling and making sensible choices about what they buy.

You can find out more about Claire Vowell by visiting her Website and to help Claire publicise Nurdle and get him into independent shops, to spread the story of ocean plastics to as many families as possible, visit her Crowd funder page.
